Ludlow Thorston was a dedicated watercolor artist whose work captured the tranquil beauty of the New Jersey shore. A resident of Island Heights, he established the Ludlow Thorston Gallery in 1979, showcasing his mastery of the aquarelle technique. His artistic journey included studies at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts, degrees from New York University, and further education at Seton Hall University. Thorston was actively involved in the art community, serving as president of both the New Jersey Watercolor Society and the Essex Watercolor Club. His paintings, known for their calming depth and appreciation of nature, continue to be available through his gallery, now managed by his wife, Nell.
